Interest in "Ghostbusters 3" is picking up as details of new paranormal fighters and possible casting come out and as many of the original stars share stories during the 30th anniversary of the original.
Vanity Fair's June article on the "Ghostbusters" anniversary sparked much of the conversation, with Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad saying through a spokesman that "Ghostbusters 3" was "in development."
"We are currently working hard to re-create the magic of the original in order to bring a new Ghostbusters adventure to life," said Belgrad.

Sigourney Weaver, who played Bill Murray's love interest Dana Barrett in the first two "Ghostbusters," told Vanity Fair that she mentioned to director Ivan Reitman that she would be on board if her son from the second movie, Oscar, would become a Ghostbuster, and Reitman confirmed to her, "We've already done that."
The baby Oscar character was essential to the "Ghostbusters 2" plot as he was kidnapped by Weaver's on-screen boss Janosz Poha to help bring back to life the ghost of 16th-century tyrant named Vigo Von Homburg Deutschendorf.
Reitman, the director of the first two "Ghostbusters," announced in March he was bowing out of the project as director following the death of original Ghostbuster and co-writer Harold Ramis, who died in February. He said then he would help Sony find a new director in time for its 2015 reboot schedule.
Etan Cohen, whose credits include "Men in Black 3" and "Tropic Thunder," told Vanity Fair he has worked with Reitman on a script along with help from Dan Aykroyd. Murray, though, has been skittish about his return to "Ghostbusters."
"No one can speak the language of 'Ghostbusters' like (Aykroyd) can," Cohen told Vanity Fair. "Absolutely everyone wants Bill Murray. But everyone has great faith in the franchise."
Murray told
Dazed Digital.com in March that his involvement in the "Ghostbusters" reboot was not a priority for him.
"So what are we going to do? Are we going to rush to make a third one?" Murray said. "It would be great if you could make one that was as good as the first one. It would probably be good if you could make one that was as good as the second one."
