Girl Scouts S'Mores could mean some more cookies than ever being sold next year, appealing to lovers of a more traditional sandwich-type cookie or those who might prefer a chocolate-covered vegan version.
The Girl Scouts introduced the cookies Wednesday, on National S'mores Day, but they won't be sold until next year, noted ABC News.
"The new Girl Scout S'mores cookies capture the adventurous spirit, love of the outdoors, and feeling of community that are synonymous with Girl Scouts," said Sylvia Acevedo, interim chief executive officer of the Girl Scouts of the USA.
"As we approach the 100th anniversary of the first known sale of cookies by Girl Scouts, it only seems natural to celebrate it with a new cookie flavor that ties to our heritage and captures the adventurous, take-charge, and civic-minded spirit of our girls."
The Girl Scouts said Girl Scout Leader magazine was one of the first publications to print a recipe for S'mores back in 1925.
Stewart Goodbody, the Girl Scouts of the USA director of communications, told Mashable that loyal cookie customers are known for coming up with their own versions of GS cookies..
"We are sure to see some 'Triple Decker S'mores" out there come cookie season where extreme s'more-ers use two Girl Scouts S'mores Cookies to sandwich a toasted marshmallow," said Goodbody.
The news of a vegan S'more pleased many on social media.
