Country singer Glen Campbell has released his last song as an emotional video as he battles Alzheimer's disease.
Campbell recorded "I’m Not Gonna Miss You" in 2013, and it will be his last recording and video since being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2011.
"I'm still here but yet I'm gone / I don't play guitar or sing my songs," the song begins. With clips of Campbell’s wife, Kim, as a backdrop, he then sings: “You're the last person I will love / you're the last face I will recall."
The video continues to highlight public performances and private family moments woven with clips of physicians reviewing brain scans.
In 2013,
Campbell told USA Today that he was not yet bothered by the disease. "I'm actually getting along with it. I told it to get out or something. I don't even know it's there,” he said.
A Country Music Hall of Famer, Campbell, 78, is best known for songs "Rhinestone Cowboy" and "Wichita Lineman."
He was admitted to a Nashville memory care facility earlier this year.
“Sadly, Glen's condition has progressed enough that we were no longer able to keep him at home,"
Campbell's family told Rolling Stone in a statement in April. "He is getting fantastic care and we get to see him every day. Our family wants to thank everyone for their continued prayers, love and support."
In the USA Today interview, Campbell said he always wanted to sing songs from the heart: "I still do," he added at the time.
