The "Gonzaga Grandma" is the latest sensation to sweep the internet in a viral video clip of an elderly woman throwing her arms to the sky and mouthing "Thank you, Father" during the NCAA tournament Thursday.
The video was captured as fourth-seeded Gonzaga secured a first-round victory over the 13th-seeded UNC Greensboro on Thursday, Larry Brown Sports reported.
Cameras homed in on the woman almost immediately after freshman guard Zach Norvell Jr. broke a 64-64 tie with just 20.8 seconds remaining when he hit a three-point shot, KIRO-TV noted.
It was not long before the video, dubbed "Gonzaga Grandma" was being shared across social media platforms.
Following Thursday's tight match, Gonzaga Coach Mark Few noted that things would not get any easier.
"These first-round games are hard... They're really hard," he said, per The Washington Post.
"And I think people get a little misled when they see the seed numbers up there. … That's a really good team that we were fortunate enough to beat."
