Gordon Ramsay: Is That New Hair on Hothead Celebrity Chef?

By    |   Wednesday, 30 April 2014 07:08 AM EDT

Gordon Ramsay, the celebrity hothead chef known for his exceptionally sharp tongue, stepped out in London over the weekend with a new 'do that some say is evidence of a hair transplant.

Ramsay, 47, and wife Tana made an appearance at friend Victoria Beckham's birthday party Sunday night at the Arts Club in London, but the back of the "Kitchen Nightmares" star's head is what really made headlines.

Experts say it's clear Ramsay has had a second hair transplant (he reportedly also had one in early 2011).

"Under follicular unit extraction, the head is shaved and then individual follicles are harvested from an area of the scalp where the hair is abundant — normally the back or the side of the head," Dr. Asim Shahmalak, hair loss expert on the U.K. television show "Embarrassing Bodies," told the Daily Express.

"In Ramsay's case, the hair has been harvested from the back of the head — which is why you can see all the red pinpricks where the follicles have been removed. It is not clear where the transplanted hair has been placed in Ramsay's case. The long fringe combed forward may be covering the recipient area where he has had worked performed."

Ramsay's new hairstyle seemed to be channeling good friend David Beckham. The two are rumored to be working on a chain of pie and mash shops together.
