Gun-shaped stiletto heels belonging to a woman attempting to board a flight at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport Sunday afternoon caused a stir at airport security and a delay for her.
The shoes, which had heels molded into the shape of handgun barrels and features that resembled bullets, were found in the woman's carry-on luggage,
Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein told The Baltimore Sun.
The 7 and 1/4-inch heels, called the Bondgirl-701-3 Gun Heel Platform Sandal, are made by
Pleaser USA, according to Amazon.com.
The woman was also in the possession of a replica bullet-lined bracelet that accompanied the shoes, which were also
fished out by TSA, ABC News reported.
Farbstein told The Sun that the woman ended up leaving the shoes and bracelet so she could catch her flight after she was unable to retrieve to checked luggage to put them in.
"We want to remind travelers that they should not bring replica guns or ammunition to checkpoints," Farbstein said. "It will definitely slow them down, slow down their traveling companions who are waiting for them, and it will slow down the checkpoint lines for other travelers."
While some on social media did not see the shoes as a threat, the fashion statement was another story.
