Gwyneth Paltrow, the "Iron Man" actress and cookbook author, peeved a fellow author at a book signing event at the East Hampton Library in New York.
Author Christina Oxenberg did not enjoy sitting next to Paltrow during the event, describing her experience on her
website Sunday in a sarcastic, humorous post.

"Due to the inflexibility of the alphabet I had the questionable good fortune to be seated directly beside Gwyneth Paltrow," Oxenberg wrote. "Then slowly yet unmistakably a line began to form in front of my section of table."
"These folks were hushed and reverential and had a particularly earnest and focused demeanor and casting furtive eyes around, clearly single minded and clearly without any interest in yours truly," Oxenberg continued. "Unless you count the increasingly urgent question they posed, 'Where is Gwyneth?'"
The event, on Long Island, boasts a long roster of both book-inclined celebrities and stars of the literary world,
according to the LA Times. The event was co-founded by Alec Baldwin and its organizing committee, including bestselling thriller author Nelson DeMille, National Book Award-winning biographer Robert Caro, Orange Prize winning novelist A.M Homes and, yes, Gwyneth Paltrow.
Oxenberg is the daughter to Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia and second cousin to Prince Charles. Her sister Catherine was the star of the '80s show "Dynasty."
It appeared Oxenberg felt neglected at the event.
"The divinity in question arrived with hubby, children and a couple of massive bodyguards. The worshipers blocked my view of the whole world, abusing my tiny territory upon which to abandon their trash or lean their sorry…" Oxenberg wrote.
She then took matters into her own hands.
"Confronted with no readers and a massive signing line for Gwyneth, what did Oxenberg do? She retreated to the snack table," Carolyn Kellogg wrote in an LA Times story. ". . . Then she got, depending on how you look at it, inspired or kind of mean."
Oxenberg gathered "miniature sloppy hamburgers, stinky steak sandwiches, and the like and hauled it back to my piece of table," next to the health-conscious vegan actress.
"And there I sat with my meat products, wafting the excellent smells toward my sleek vegan neighbor," Oxenberg wrote on her website. "She ignored the siren smells of protein. We never did say hello, although I did try to sell my book to her sleek vegan children. No bites."
Paltrow was peddling her vegan cookbook "It's All Good" at the event. Oxenberg, who has been writing novels since the 1990s, was promoting her newest book, "Life Is Short."
