Halle Berry will star as a disgraced mixed martial arts fighter who has to conquer personal demons in her latest movie "Bruised," which will also serve as the Oscar winner's debut into the directing world, Deadline reported.
The film tells the story of Jackie "Justice," an MMA fighter who has failed at being a fighter, and who has to take a hard look at her life when the son she walked out on years ago shows up on her doorstep.
Berry will team up with producer Basil Iwanyk, whom she worked alongside in "John Wick 3," which is currently in post-production, according to IMDb.
"Bruised" is written by Michelle Rosenfarb, with Erica Lee serving as executive producer. Production for the film is slated to begin in March.
Berry began her career as a model in the 1991 series "Living Dolls," but her big break came when she was cast in Spike Lee's "Jungle Fever," Hello magazine reported.
Four years ago, Berry took a break from the entertainment world but returned to the big screen in 2017 with a string of films including "Kidnap," "Kingsman: Golden Circle," "Kings" and most recently, "John Wick 3: Parabellum," which is due out next year," People magazine noted.
