Former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora said he still loves ex-wife Heather Locklear, and that he and the actress will always have a special bond.
Locklear is currently starring in the TNT television series "Franklin & Bash" and has a recurring role in the TV Land series "Hot in Cleveland," while Sambora has plans for solo performances in England in June and Japan in August, according to his
website.
"Time does heal old wounds," Sambora told
Ireland's TV3 XPose Entertainment on Monday. "I mean, I still love Heather and I know she loves me. She's the mother of my child, man. What can you say?''

Sambora told
People magazine in March that the ex-couple worked on letting go of past issues because of their 16-year-old daughter Ava.
"We're better friends now than ever," Sambora said about his relationship with Locklear. "If you don't get along you are messing the kid up. That's what happens. So you have to put that before whatever (expletive) is going on. Communication has got to come first. There's a cooling off period obviously, as you know – it takes time. It was almost 10 years ago though. So we're fine."
Sambora and Locklear were together for Ava Sambora's 16th birthday at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles this past October. The couple was married for 13 years before divorcing six year ago.
"Heather and I really respect each other, and we've become better friends, I think, now that we're not married," Sambora said in October.
Their daughter is the often the driving force behind Sambora and Locklear seeing each other, particularly during holidays, Sambora told People in March.
"Thanksgiving or Christmas, we all spend it together," he said. "I'm an undomesticated cat."
Sambora said he is proud of his daughter and would do anything to make sure she can handle what life throws at her.
"She's a really good kid," Sambora said. "You have to give them the tools to take care of themselves and almost force them when they are small to make decisions on their own so they then get in that groove."
