During her visit to Buckingham Palace, the famous English actress who has acted in more than 115 films and TV shows over her 50-year career said there was no mention of her past roles as the queen.
"I am genuinely always astounded by her aura, her twinkle, her presence," Mirren said following her encounter,
The Daily Mail reported. "It never fails to surprise me and again it's what everyone says when they meet her — it was what overwhelmed me the first time I met her.
"I feel like saying I am so sorry and I promise I will stop," Mirren added referring to her royal portrayals.
Mirren, who is said to be romantically involved with Irish actor Liam Neeson, was accompanied by the likes of actresses Uma Thurman, Joely Richardson, Helena Bonham Carter, and Joan Collins at the palace reception.
One day earlier, Mirren received a BAFTA Fellowship from Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, at London's Royal Opera House during the 2014 British Academy Film Awards ceremony.
"He was so great backstage — so lovely. He was very easy, very relaxed,"
Mirren told People magazine.
"I don't mean this rudely, but you would never think that he was a prince, which to me is the biggest compliment you can make," Mirren added. "I just felt as though I was meeting a very nice chap. There was no prince-ness about him at all."
