Hillary Clinton struck out on a 1,000-mile van tour from New York to Iowa on Sunday following her declaration that she will run for the presidency.
"When Hillary first told us that she was ready to hit the road for Iowa, we literally looked at her and said, 'Seriously?' And she said, 'Seriously,'" said longtime aide Huma Abedin,
The Associated Press reported.
"This was her idea, and she's been really excited about it since she came up with it."
After setting out from Clinton's home in Chappaqua, New York, the road trip is expected to arrive in Iowa on Monday, and she is scheduled to appear at a community college in the town of Monticello on Tuesday. On Wednesday, she will have a talk with small business owners in Norwalk.
The Secret Service is taking care of driving the van, which aide's nicknamed "Scooby" after the Mystery Machine van in the 1970s animated television show, "The Scooby Doo Show."
During a gas station stop in Pennsylvania, Clinton met a family from Michigan, snapped a picture with them. She soon posted it to Twitter.
