A hovering "angel" in a glowing silhouette that was caught on camera is making believers out of some after the image was caught by a motion sensor security camera, the television news magazine "Inside Edition" reported.
Glen Thorman, the fire chief in East Jordan, Michigan, said the image came from his home security camera, according to "Inside Edition." The "angel" appeared to fly away in the second image, Thorman said.
"I was just like, 'Woah!' I thought, 'That's an angel," Thorman told Inside Edition. "Everybody’s entitled to an opinion. There's a lot of naysayers that make fun of it and that's OK."
The Detroit Free Press said Thorman gave the photos to his wife and church pastor Deneille Moes.
Jordan River Church posted the images on Facebook to back Thorman's story. The post has been shared more than 1,600 times.
"Yep folks... It's an angel," the church's Facebook post proclaimed. "I guess there is no question who is watching over their residence while they sleep, and yes, they pray that The Angels of the Lord will surround them and their property....These photos have not been altered in anyway. The second photo, the security camera also shot because the angel was moving away. …"
Joe Clark, the studio owner at Glass Lakes Photography in Petoskey, Michigan, told WPBN-TV, though, that while it is difficult to make out the image, he believes it was an insect that set off the motion detector.
"It is definitely moth-shaped in the first photo," Clark told WPBN-TV. "You can kind of clearly see what looks, or could be interpreted as, wings and a head, but at the same time since it's not clearly in focus and since it is what it is, there may be room for interpretation."
Opinions on the photo ranged widely on Twitter, from an angel, to a moth, to the Marvel movie character Thanos.
