Conservative radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt has been tapped by MSNBC to host a half-hour Saturday morning show, TVNewser reported Thursday.
Hewitt's first program will air this Saturday, June 24, at 8 a.m. ET.
"In giving Hewitt his own show, MSNBC is sure to raise eyebrows, considering that the network has been doing well mostly on the strength of left-leaning opinion journalists like Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell," The Hollywood Reporter noted. "NBC News chairman Andy Lack is known to favor hard news, and has programmed the network to feature a broader range of editorial opinions in addition to traditional newsmen like Brian Williams."
The network also recently added Greta Van Susteren, a former Fox News host, along with Nicole Wallace, a former communications staffer for President George W. Bush.
