Actor Idris Elba says he may have been infected with the coronavirus by someone "in the public eye" and although no one has been named, it could very well be Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau based on what the star said.
Elba, who starred in the TV hit “Luther" and blockbuster movie "Avengers: Infinity War," said he had been exposed to COVID-19 on March 4. That same day Elba posed for a photo with Sophie -- who tested positive last week — during a charity event in London, according to Page Six.
"That’s when the person that came up positive, that was the time I got in contact with that person," he said in a video shared to Twitter.
Elba said he got tested after finding out on Friday he had been exposed to someone who had contracted the disease. He did not identify the person but noted it was a prominent figure.
"On Friday last week I was told that someone that I had been in contact with had tested positive," he said. "And I’m on location, about to start a film and the news breaks that this person, who is also in the public eye, had tested positive."
"My job made me test immediately. I had to test because it meant putting a lot of people at risk," Elba continued, "if I had been exposed, then the people I was working with would also have been exposed."
The 47-year-old star made the decision to quarantine himself immediately despite not feeling sick.
"I wasn’t showing any symptoms, but I am very glad I made that decision [to get tested] because I have been out of contact with everyone since," he said.
