The iPhone 6 is expected to be launched later this year and will reportedly feature a screen nearly 20 percent bigger than its largest screen to date, as Apple attempts to retain existing customers and attract new ones who are lured to the larger displays offered by competitors' phones.
Besides the 4.8-inch iPhone 6, Apple also is planning to produce a second phone with a screen exceeding 5 inches that ventures into phablet territory,
according to the Wall Street Journal.

The size of the new iPhone 6 has “been locked down” after Apple looked at several options, according to the report, and the latest version of the iPhone is expected to be on the market this fall.
When it comes to the latest smart phones, bigger is selling better.
“The plans for larger iPhones come as Apple is losing market share to rivals who offer bigger screens," WSJ reported. "Those models have proved popular as more people use the handsets to play games, watch video or surf the Web. Samsung's 5-inch Galaxy S4 and 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3 are among its best-selling models.”
Canalys analyst Jessica Kwee said Apple needs a larger screen smartphone soon, as roughly 1 in 4 smartphones shipped worldwide in the third quarter of 2013 had displays of at least 5 inches.
The Wall Street Journal earlier had reported that the next iPhone would come with a 4.5-inch display.
