iPhone 6 Rumors Turned Into Rendering of So-Called 'iPhone Air'

Following up on iPhone 6 schematics rumors released last week by Japanese magazine MacFan, French website NoWhereElse.fr has now turned those blueprints into real-life renderings of what they call the "iPhone Air."

According to MacRumors.com
, the new mockups show versions with both a 4.7- and a 5.7-inch screen. The "iPhone Air" is also razor-thin — definitely thinner than the 7.6 mm iPhone 5S — but curved around the edges. Others note the full justification of the screen, which goes all the way to the edge with no bezel, and the reappearance of a glass back—last seen on the iPhone 4S.

Analysts on Wall Street are already calculating the potential price points for the new iPhone, placing it head-to-head against its likely competitor, the Samsung Galaxy 5S, which might go for as much as $600.

24/7 Wall St. reports that Apple is known for its healthy margins — about 38 percent — however over the last few years Samsung and other Android-based smartphones have rapidly cut in on Apple's market share.

If the Cupertino, Calif.-based company seeks to grab back some of its lost market share it may offer their new phone at a cheaper price point — something they tried to do with the recent release of the plastic-backed iPhone 5C, which retails for $99 with most cellular plans.

Conversely, if Apple opts for margins and money over market share, they may push into the territory their current iPhone 5S occupies, the $200-$400 range, or perhaps as high as $500.

Depending on the mix of new features, which may include Sapphire glass, a new camera, larger screen, and upgraded M7 motion coprocessor for fitness apps, management may deem the new phone worthy of a higher price point.

Regardless, Wall Street will be looking for first quarter sales over 51 million units, the latest benchmark achieved by Apple for its most recent quarter.
