An elderly Swedish couple found a creative way to get revenge on noisy neighbors: Blast loud music from the English heavy metal band Iron Maiden in their direction for hours at a time. And the song of choice for the 81-year-old man and his 71-year-old wife: "Afraid to Shoot Strangers."

Police reportedly responded to a house near Sweden's capital of Stockholm after loud music continued throughout the winter at all hours of the night, sometimes until 4 a.m.

Authorities found a stereo on the couple's balcony facing their neighbor's home as well as a separate music system in their basement position toward their neighbor's bedroom.

"We wanted to give a taste of their own medicine," the husband explained.

The man's wife added that in order to get a good night's rest she had resorted to taking sleeping pills.

The elderly couple told police that noise from their neighbor’s home had been so destroyed their quality of life that they felt they had no alternative but to take matters into their own hands and fight back.

Iron Maiden was reportedly chosen because of its tendency to play loud music.
The blunt strategy seemed to work.

"The harassment has just carried on, I am completely broken down. How can I keep living here?" the couple’s neighbor said to police, reported The Local.

Police have charged the elderly couple with harassment.

It isn't the first time loud music has been used like this.

In 1993, federal authorities blasted loud music at the compound of the Branch Davidians, a Christian sect led by David Koresh, near Waco, Texas.

During Operation Iraqi Freedom, U.S. interrogators played loud music to disorientate and break Iraqi prisoners, reported Britain's The Guardian.

The technique was later labeled "torture by music" in an Army field manual, according to the Guardian.
