Jackie Kennedy Onassis cut her sister, Lee Radziwill, out of her will, The Daily Mail reported. The news emerged following the death of 85-year-old Radziwill on Friday. Since then the sisters' relationship has been thrust into the limelight.

Author J. Randy Taraborrelli, who wrote "Jackie, Janet and Lee" told People that when it came to the two sisters, "there were always shades of grey."

According to The Daily Mail, Radziwill encountered financial difficulty later in life because of her extravagant lifestyle, but when Onassis penned her will, she excluded her sister from it and instead gave each of Radziwill's two children $500,000.

Onassis, who died in 1994, said in her will that she made the decision "because I have already [provided for my sister] during my lifetime," The Daily Mail noted.

Taraborrelli told People that despite the seemingly rocky nature of the two sisters’ relationship, which was evident in Onassis’ will, "there were times when they were very close."

Clint Hill, Radziwill’s Secret Service agent, agreed.

Both sisters endured their share of trial and tribulations but when it came to the crux, Radziwill did "everything she could to support her sister," People noted.

Rumors of rivalry have haunted the sisters for decades, but in a rare and candid interview with People in 1976, Radziwill dismissed it as "the most ludicrous talk in the world," adding that she and Onassis were "exceptionally close and always have been."
