Jaden Smith Trashes School in Twitter Rant, But He's Not Grounded

Jaden Smith, Will Smith's 15-year-old son, went on a Twitter rant last week voicing his feelings on education and why he doesn’t need it.

A budding movie star in his own right, Smith has been appearing alongside his father in films since 2006's "The Pursuit of Happyness." He also starred in the 2010 remake of "The Karate Kid."

But the teen appears to have no need for education and thinks the world would be better off without it.

Will Smith, 44, and wife Jada Pinkett Smith, 41, have always been known for their hands-off parenting style with kids Jaden and 12-year-old Willow.

"I think that, specifically in African American households, the idea coming out of slavery, there's a concept of your children being property and that was a major part that Jada and I realized with our kids," Will Smith told Haute Living magazine recently. "We respect our children the way we would respect any other person. Things like cleaning up their room. You would never tell a full-grown adult to clean their room, so we don't tell our kids to clean their rooms."

Rumors were floating around earlier this year that Jaden Smith was seeking emancipation from his parents, but he brushed off the reports during an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in May.

"Here's the thing I need to explain. I'm not going anywhere," Jaden Smith said on-air. "The thing that people don’t get is that everything at [dad Will's] house is free. So I can get anything and everything that I want at his house, so I think Imma [sic] be there for 20, 30 more years. But [dad] says as soon as I have a movie that's bigger than one of his movies, then I have to get my own house."
