James Van Der Beek reacted for the first time to the viral crying face meme from his old "Dawson's Creek" series, saying that he loves how people have used the looping video, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Van Der Beek joined the rest of his former "Dawson's Creek" co-stars for a cast reunion for the magazine when the topic of the viral internet meme came up. "Dawson's Creek" aired from 1998 to 2003 on the WB Network.
"I feel like everybody on this show cried more than I did and I was the one who got caught in the loop," Van Der Beek said about the clip, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Co-star Joshua Jackson added: "It's not how many times you cried. It's how you cried."
Van Der Beek said that, overall, he appreciates the meme.
"I love it," Van Der Beek told Entertainment Weekly. "It's my favorite thing about the whole show. It's hilarious to me that you can work for six years on a show … and it gets boiled down to three seconds. It's a perfect way-of-the-internet."
In February, Van Der Beek and his wife Kimberly announced they were expecting their fifth child, according to NBC's "Today" show. The actor, 40, is currently starring in Viceland's "What Would Diplo Do?" and the new FX series "Pose," per the "Today" show.
"The second I had kids, they immediately became my priority and everything I did existed to support the life that was all about them in a good way," Van Der Beek told People magazine last year. "What’s been fun about the work that I've been doing is that it's so playful and kids bring out that playful side of you so I think that’s gone hand in hand."
Fans responded to the meme on social media.
