Jamie Foxx's Bruce Jenner Joke Falls Flat at iHeartRadio Awards

By    |   Monday, 30 March 2015 11:22 AM EDT

Jamie Foxx's Bruce Jenner joke at Sunday's iHeartRadio Awards, which attempted to poke fun at rumors of the Olympian's transition from male to female, backfired big time and sparked some major social media backlash.

Foxx, who hosted the show at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium, kicked off his monologue with a joke about jailed rap mogul Suge Knight, and then quickly segued to Jenner.

"We got some groundbreaking performances here, too, tonight," the actor said, according to Us Weekly. "We got Bruce Jenner, who will be here doing some musical performances. He's doing a his-and-her duet all by himself."

He then followed up by adding, "Look, I'm just busting your balls while I still can."

Jenner, his family, and agents have remained mum about the intense rumors of a transition, even though a scheduled sit-down with Diane Sawyer is reportedly in the works, according to CNN.

The joke immediately set off a firestorm of responses on Twitter, some accusing Foxx of being transphobic.
