Jamie Foxx will reportedly star in an upcoming Oliver Stone-directed biopic on the life of civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr., TheWrap.com reported.

Sources close to the project say that Foxx, 45, is in talks to play King, while Stone is in negotiations with DreamWorks and Warner Bros. Several members of the King family will reportedly serve as executive producers on the film, along with Steven Spielberg, TheWrap.com noted.

DreamWorks acquired the rights to King's story and his famous "I Have a Dream" speech in 2009, and recently teamed up with Warner Bros., which had been developing its own project with screenwriter Kario Salem.

Stone, known for politically charged biopics like "JFK," "Nixon," and "W," and Foxx worked together on 1999's "Any Given Sunday," which propelled the actor to movie star status.

Foxx went on to star in films like "Ray," which earned him an Academy Award, "Dreamgirls," "Django Unchained," and "White House Down."

He'll also appear as the villain Electro in the upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," which premieres in May 2014.
