Janet Waldo, the voice of Judy Jetson and other popular cartoon characters, died Sunday at 96, her daughter confirmed to
ABC News.
Lucy Lee, Waldo's daughter, said her mother had been diagnosed with a benign, but inoperable brain tumor five years ago.
She was best known as the voice of Judy Jetson, the teenage daughter of George and Jane Jetson on "The Jetsons," the animated TV show that ran from 1962 to 1987, and "Jetsons: The Movie" in 1990.
A native of Yakima, Washington, she added her voice to a score of animated characters throughout the years, according to website
Behind the Voice Actors. Those included Josie McCoy in "Josie & the Pussycats" (1970), Pebbles and Pearl Slaghoople in "The Flintstones" (1960), Penelope Pitstop in the "Wacky Races" (1968), Hogatha in "The Smurfs" (1981) and Mrs. Tobbis in "King of the Hill" (1997).
Syracuse.com said Waldo had more than 100 acting credits along with the video game version of "Wacky Races."
Many shared their condolences on social media.
