Jason Chaffetz said a Hillary Clinton presidency would bring years of investigations by his House Oversight Committee, a signal of what Republicans plan to be doing to console themselves post-election.

Already the conservative Utah representative's committee is planning hearings into an alleged "quid pro quo" arrangement between the FBI and the State Department over Clinton's use of a private email server, said National Public Radio.

"It's a target-rich environment," Chaffetz said while stumping near Salt Lake City, according to the Washington Post. "Even before we get to Day One, we've got two years' worth of material already lined up. She has four years of history at the State Department, and it ain't good."

The "quid pro quo" charges came after the FBI gave Congress additional documents connected to the agency's investigation into Clinton's use of a personal email server, said the Post.

U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, a member of the House's Select Committee on Benghazi, has said he wanted the committee's work to continue in light of allegations that Clinton might have perjured herself when the panel questioned her, said the Post.

House Speaker Paul Ryan appeared to support Chaffetz's efforts to continue to investigate Clinton after she becomes president, noted the Post.

"The rigorous oversight conducted by House Republicans has already brought to light troubling developments in the Clinton email scandal," Ryan said in a statement to the Post. "The speaker supports (oversight's) investigative efforts following where the evidence leads, especially where it shows the need for changes in the law."

Chaffetz pulled his support for Donald Trump earlier this month but said he would still vote for him for president, said the Salt Lake Tribune.

Trump is in a tight race with independent conservative Evan McMullin in Utah, said the Tribune.

"I will not defend or endorse Donald Trump, but I am voting for him," Chaffetz said on Wednesday. "Hillary Rodham Clinton is that bad. Clinton is bad for the United States of America."
