Jason Momoa is taking heat on Twitter for a joke he made in 2011 about rape.
The actor, who played Khal Drago on “Game of Thrones” and will portray Aquaman in the upcoming “Justice League” movie, said in a 2011 Comic Con panel that he liked working on “GOT” because he got to “rape beautiful women.”
A video clip of his comments surfaced on Twitter where it was blasted in the wake of the widening Harvey Weinstein scandal involving the alleged sexual harassment of women in Hollywood including Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, and a host of others.
Although Momoa was referring to the fact that it was a fantasy show, apologized for his poor taste, and later said he didn’t enjoy the rape scenes, many Twitter users were offended and disappointed by his comment and joking about such a serious topic, although some defended him.
The backlash against Momoa began a day after fellow "Justice League" star Ben Affleck apologized for groping Hilarie Burton years ago. Twitter users didn't miss the coincidence.
