Rapper Jay Z has been involved in a New Jersey paternity suit for five years regarding a now-21-year-old man whom court papers say
may be Jay Z's son, the New York Daily News reports.
According to court papers, the Daily News said, Jay Z successfully sidestepped a requested paternity test a few years ago after another man who had paid child support for years was proven not to be father.
Rymir Satterthwaite, who has dreams of becoming a rapper, is the son of Wanda Satterthwaite. If Rymir was Jay Z's son, that would put the rapper's relationship with Wanda Satterthwaite in the early 1990s, long before he became famous and got involved with his current wife, Beyonce.
Lillie Coley, godmother to Rymir Satterthwaite, told the Daily News that the family had been unaware someone was going to leak a story about the paternity suit. “Right now I can't talk to you about it,” she told the newspaper. "We plan to talk to the public soon. All this attention caught us off guard. We didn't expect someone to leak it to the press. We weren't expecting this.”
TMZ reported that in addition to trying to determine Rymir Satterthwaite’s connection to Jay Z, the 21-year-old and Coley have filed a civil lawsuit accusing Jay Z of lying in court.
It’s not the first time that Jay Z has been accused of fathering a child. In 2011, it was reported the son of Trinidad model Shenelle Scott may be Jay Z’s child.
Radar Online reported that Jay Z may have been paying child support payments to Scott, and some reports indicated he paid her $1 million after learning about the boy.
Beyonce and Jay Z renewed their marriage vows in October 2014, laying to rest rumors that had been floating around about their marriage being on the rocks.
