Jen Bielema, Wife of Former Wisconsin Coach, Tweets 'Karma' After Loss

Jen Bielema, the wife of former Wisconsin football head coach Bret Bielema, is feeling some karma herself after her postgame tweet angered Badger fans in the wake of the school's controversial loss to Arizona State.

Bielema tweeted "#karma" following Wisconsin's strange 32-30 loss to the Sun Devils on Saturday night, and her one-word message set the Badgers community abuzz with angry retorts. Her husband, Bret Bielema, had coached the school to three straight Big Ten Conference titles during his tenure from 2006-12, but took over at Arkansas this season.

The Badgers appeared to be setting up for a game-winning field goal attempt when quarterback Joel Stave took a snap with 18 seconds left. He ran from the right hash mark of Arizona State's 13-yard line to the center of the field and kneeled, a precursor to a clock-stopping spike. His kneel-down was difficult to see, so ASU players pounced on the loose ball.

When referees finally spotted the ball for a snap, time had run out, and the Sun Devils earned the win.

Bielema told the Wisconsin State Journal that his wife was speaking to a small collection of "sick and ruthless" people that "constantly hound her" through social media.

He described Jen as "crushed" when she learned of the fallout from her comments.

"Some of the comments are so sick it's hard to imagine someone can say it," he told the paper.

Badger fans were incensed by Jen Bielema's comment and reminded her that her husband recruited many of the current players, while others weren't so kind.

"...and you wonder why no one misses either of you," tweeted Adam Kneisler (@adkneisler). "Karma will come when you're run out of Arkansas."

RyaRyan Wilson (@spacklercup) tweeted: "It's comments like this that make us all glad you're no longer in Madison. Now you can just be an embarrassment to Arkansas."

For his part, Bret Bielema has tried to take the high road regarding his decision to leave Wisconsin for Arkansas, though in January, he sparred a bit with users on Twitter, USA Today reports.

Badgers athletic director Barry Alvarez also hasn't been entirely professional, saying on Aug. 20: "I haven't had one person say, 'Well, it's too bad Bret left' or 'We were sorry to see Bret leave,'" a USA Today reporter wrote.

Bielema is 3-0 at Arkansas after beating Southern Miss on Saturday. The Razorbacks face Rutgers this week.
