Jennifer Garner and her 12-year-old daughter had to be rescued while kayaking during a vacation in Sweden after they wandered into a shipping lane in Stockholm, the actress revealed on Instagram on Monday.
NBC's "Today" show reported that Garner, 46, was with her daughter Violet, the oldest of three children she has with fellow actor Ben Affleck.
"On a pre-middle-school sneak away with my eldest... Did I get us lost in a kayak? Yes. Did we paddle as hard as we could for 100 hours and end up in a shipping lane? I'm afraid so. Did we have to be rescued? Yup," the actress said.
That Instagram caption accompanied a picture of the pair kayaking against a sunset. In a hashtag, though, Garner said her daughter never complained about their misadventure.
On Tuesday, Garner also posted a photo of the person from the kayak rental company who rescued them, named Mattias.
"… Mattias got into a kayak of his own and started searching for them. Fortunately he found them not too far away and was able to guide them back to our rental. Quite an adventure," Garner said.
The "Today" show suggested the adventure was good practice for Garner’s upcoming HBO series "Camping," about a married couple dealing with a camping trip that goes terribly wrong.
Garner is cast in the eight-episode limited series as a not-so-cheerful and controlling Los Angeles mother who producers called "messy, tough and provocative and really, really fun."
Social media comments included happiness that Garner and her daughter were okay.
