Jenny Lauren, a niece of fashion designer Ralph Lauren has, agreed to pay a fine of more than $2,700 for being so drunk on a trans-Atlantic flight that the pilot had to divert the aircraft for an unplanned stop in Ireland.

Lauren pleaded guilty Wednesday to a charge of “being intoxicated to such an extent as would give rise to a reasonable (possibility) that you might endanger yourself or other persons on board” the New York-bound flight, according to CNN. Lauren was arrested on Tuesday.

The Irish news website RTE provided a detailed account of the allegations against Lauren. She was reportedly sitting in seat 21G, some 10 rows from the cockpit, on a Delta Airlines flight from Barcelona. Two hours into the flight, a flight attendant saw that Lauren was having trouble reclining in her seat. But when the attendant, identified as Constance Topping, came to help, Lauren reportedly told her to 'Get the f— out of my face.'”

Authorities said Lauren then ran up to the galley “ranting and raving” and pushed Topping against a wall while lashing out at the flight attendant. The captain was notified of the situation, and another captain on a rest break tried, but failed, to calm Lauren down. The flight was then diverted to Shannon Airport in Ireland, where Lauren, 41, was arrested.

The court calculated the costs of the diversion at more than $43,000, according to RTE. Ten passengers missed connecting flights, 70 had to stay overnight, and 27 had to be put up for two nights. Added fuel costs topped $17,000, while additional maintenance costs surpassed $5,000.

RTE reported that Lauren has had a “difficult medical past” and suffered from several conditions. Lauren’s attorney said her client’s behavior was out of character and that she was extremely sorry for the trouble she caused.
