A petition to reinstate suspended "Top Gear" host Jeremy Clarkson was delivered to the BBC offices by tank on Friday, however the following day he said it wasn't likely to work.
"The simple truth of the matter is this: Protest never works," the veteran show host wrote in The Sun U.K. on Saturday,
reported The Independent U.K.
"Because we are all plankton. And the world is run by whales. Oh, you can be a big and important plankton but that doesn't make a jot of difference if a whale has decided to eat you up. You can get a million other plankton to dress up and wave banners but Mr. Whale won't even notice."
The day before he penned his column, Clarkson's fans had show character The Stig deliver a Change.org petition started by blogger Guido Fawkes to the BBC Broadcasting House in a tank.
The petition reads: "We the undersigned petition the BBC to reinstate Jeremy Clarkson. Freedom to fracas. #BringBackClarkson." It currently carries over 1 million signatures.
Clarkson was suspended earlier this month after allegedly punching show producer Oisin Tymon at a hotel after a long day of filming. The co-hosts of the show refused to go on without him.
Clarkson has been on "Top Gear" since 1988, and it's become the most-watched non-fiction show in the world with more than 300 million viewers in 200 countries.
The BBC's investigation into Clarkson's behavior is ongoing.
On Friday, the host tweeted a note of thanks to all of his supporters.
