Jermain Taylor was arrested Wednesday on domestic battery charges after the former boxing champion knocked out and threatened to kill a woman, according to Little Rock, Arkansas, police.
Police reported that they responded to a 911 call near 3 p.m. for a disturbance involving a weapon at Taylor's home.
The arrest report maintained that Taylor punched unconscious a woman who lives with him, and that he threatened to kill her while holding a knife to her throat.
He was booked on a charge of third-degree domestic battery and a charge of aggravated assault on a family or household member.
The incident comes weeks after Taylor had separate domestic violence charges dropped. In July 2017, he had been accused of biting a woman and threatening to kill her, but authorities dropped the case when the woman could no longer be located.
Taylor was arrested in 2014 after shooting his cousin in the leg, one of three separate incidents that year and the following year that led to him pleading guilty to nine charges in 2016 and receiving two six-year suspended sentences.
Taylor, a bronze medalist at the 2000 Olympics, captured the undisputed middleweight title in 2005 when he defeated Bernard Hopkins. He successfully defended the title four times before losing to Kelly Pavlik in 2007.
