Actress turned entrepreneur Jessica Alba and her business partner have raised $25 million in funding for their eco-friendly baby products startup, The Honest Company, bringing their total to $52 million in less than two years.
Alba, 32, and her team, including CEO and co-founder Brian Lee, launched Honest Co. in January 2012 with the goal of creating an entire lifestyle line of non-toxic, eco-friendly products, from baby diapers to skin care to home cleaners. Honest goods are featured primarily online, but are also available via a subscription service.
"Our mission at The Honest Company is to provide healthier, more sustainable products for today’s families and generations to come," Alba said in a statement. "We are excited to work with supportive partners that share the same vision and look forward to continued growth and reach."

The latest round of funding was led by Institutional Venture Partners with help from Iconiq Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and General Catalyst Partners,
according to Entrepreneur.com.
The money will go toward product development and help the Los Angeles-based company expand its distribution and business overseas.
"This new round of funding will provide essential resources for us to continuously expand our suite of products and bring them to households around the world," Lee said in a statement. "We created The Honest Company with the dream to one day provide natural, affordable products to families everywhere."
Earlier this year, Alba released a book, "The Honest Life," about how she created a non-toxic, eco-friendly life for her two daughters, Honor and Haven.
