Jessica Falkholt Dies: 'Home and Away' Star Hurt in Crash Was 29

Jessica Falkholt, who starred in the Australian soap opera "Home and Away," has died three weeks after a Dec. 26 car crash in New South Wales that also took the life of her parents and sister.

Falkholt, 29, died Wednesday morning, six days after the life support was turned off at Sydney's St. George Hospital, Australian Broadcasting Corporation News reported on Wednesday. The Boxing Day head-on collision killed her parents Lars Falkholt, 69, and mother Vivian Falkholt, 60.

Jessica Falkholt's sister, Annabelle Falkholt, 21, died three days after the crash on Princess Highway at Mondayong, the broadcaster stated. Craig Whitall, 50, the driver of the other vehicle, died at the scene, according to ABC News.

"Jessica passed away from serious injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on 26 December, 2017," the hospital said. "The family has asked for privacy during this very difficult time."

Channel 7, which aired "Home and Away," issued a statement about Falkholt's death, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

"Channel Seven and the entire 'Home and Away' family is heartbroken to hear of Jessica's passing," the statement read. "Jessica's shining talent was recognized and respected by all her castmates and crew and her beautiful friendship treasured."

Falkholt, who earned her bachelor's degree from the University of New South Wales, played Hope Morrison in "Home and Away" for 16 episodes in 2016 and will appear as the title character in the upcoming film "Harmony," the Morning Herald reported.

The newspaper said that former "Home and Away" actress Pia Miller remembered Falkholt on Instagram.
