"I was impressed with him as I got to know him over the years. He sounded like an amazing young man. I felt like from the beginning, they had similar personalities and goals. I thought they would hit it off," Jim Bob Duggar said.
Dillard was doing missionary work in Nepal and communicated with Jill Duggar via text messages and Skype before she agreed to the courtship.
"I was really impressed with his character and I was surprised how much we have the same vision and life goals. He's a great guy," Jill Duggar told People.

Jessa Duggar, 20, entered a courtship with Ben Seewald, 18, of Hot Spring, Ark.
Courtship is a chaperoned alternative to dating that focuses on determining whether to join together in marriage.
“Courtship is really waiting for the one God has for you and praying through the whole process,”
Jim Bob Duggar said, according to "Today".
During a courtship, the couple always has a chaperone and the parents are highly involved, including being in on all text message conversations.
