Jim Carrey, whose outspoken liberal views on gun control landed him back in the spotlight earlier this year, has finally sold his beachfront home in Malibu, Calif., albeit for $4.6 million less than the actor was hoping for.
The
2,866-square-foot Malibu Colony home has sold for $13.4 million, according to real estate website Zillow.
Carrey purchased the five bedroom, five-and-a-half bathroom home back in 2002 for $9.75 million, but put it on the market in 2011 for $18 million. When no one bit, the listing went through a series of price cuts. The last time he relisted it was in June 2012 for $13.95 million.

The contemporary-style home's gated community reportedly boasts celebrity neighbors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Laura Dern, John McEnroe, Leslie Mann, and Judd Apatow.
In March, Carrey was the center of the national gun control debate after he released a
Funny or Die music video called "Cold Dead Hand," which mocked Second Amendment defenders and actor and former National Rifle Association president Charlton Heston.
The title of the song alludes to a 2000 NRA convention speech Heston made, in which he vows, "I'll give you my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands."
The video stirred up Republicans who unleashed their fury on Carrey on Twitter.
Carrey is rumored to have a part in the highly anticipated sequel "Anchorman 2" alongside other comedy royalty like Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Christina Applegate, and Tina Fey. The film hits theaters Dec. 20.
Carrey is reportedly interested in relocating to New York City.
