Emmy Award-winning actor Jim Parsons told MTV he would like to portray the Riddler opposite Batman in a superhero movie.
Parsons, best known for his portrayal of Sheldon Cooper in "The Big Bang Theory," was promoting the upcoming DreamWorks animated film "Home" when he addressed the issue.
"I would love to play a superhero in a movie," Parsons, 41, said in the interview. "I would like to be a villain. And ... I would really like to play The Riddler. I don’t feel they're using the Riddler very much, are they?"
When the interviewer suggested that Parsons would be "dope" as the Riddler, the actor agreed.
"Did you hear that? I would be dope as the Riddler. Girls, tell your friends."
Parsons voices the character Oh in the movie "Home," which will be released March 27. Parsons co-stars with Rihanna and Steve Martin in a movie where the friendship between Parsons' alien character and Rihanna's Earthly character threatens the aliens' plan to take over the planet.
The last time the Riddler appeared on the big screen was in 1995's "Batman Forever," with Jim Carrey in the role of the villain and his alter ego, scientist Edward Nygma.
Parsons' chance to play the Riddler may not come anytime soon with DC Comics determined to catch up Marvel with a multi-superhero movie. Batman, with Ben Affleck taking over for Christian Bale, will appear opposite Henry Cavill in "Batman v. Superman: The Dawn of Justice," scheduled to be released March 25, 2016.
That cast is already locked in, with Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Superman's Earth-bound nemesis Lex Luthor, and Amy Adams reprising her Lois Lane role from "Man of Steel."
Marvel will have the second version of its superhero mashup, "Avengers: Age of Ultron," out May 1 with its main superheroes returning: Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk.
Joining them will be Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver and Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch. "The Blacklist's" James Spader provides the voice of the villainous Ultron in the movie.
