Author J.K. Rowling went on the attack Monday, tweeting a Bible verse burn aimed at Vice President Mike Pence for posting a comment last year against then-President Barack Obama’s executive travel ban that she thought was hypocritical.
Rowling pointed out Pence's tweet from December 2015 that called banning Muslims from entering the U.S. "offensive and unconstitutional."
It was around that time Obama signed into law an executive travel ban similar to President Donald Trump’s executive order that has garnered criticism and protests from many on the left, and some on the right as well.
Rowling quoted Matthew 16:26 to Pence, suggesting he had sold his soul in supporting Trump.
Another Twitter follower suggested Exodus 22:21 as a fitting scripture; it talks about not mistreating or oppressing foreigners.
Rowling’s fans have been enjoying her witty tweets and comebacks to those who attempt to criticize her, such as this former fan who uses Pepe the Frog, a racist symbol, as his Twitter photo and called the best-selling "Harry Potter" author a bad writer.
When someone said they would burn her books, Rowling had a comeback for that as well.
Political foes will need to be careful when tangling with this wizard of words.
