Joanna Dennehy pleaded guilty to killing three men and attempting to kill another two in a British court this week.
The 30-year-old female serial killer of Herefordshire, England, did not say why she murdered the men, all of whom were stabbed to death with knife wounds to either their chest or neck areas.
Dennehy's lawyers were apparently taken off guard by the confession, with defense attorney Nigel Lickley telling the court that this "course is not one I had anticipated. We ask for more time given what has just occurred."

Additional time in the proceedings is apparently not what
Dennehy had hoped for in light of her speedy confession the Telegraph reported, with the confessed serial killer telling her attorney, "I'm not coming back down here again just to say the same stuff. It's a long way to come to say the same thing I have just said."
High Court Judge Nigel Sweeney agreed.
"She has pleaded guilty to a large number of counts, clearly intentionally, and in the circumstances if there is to be any application for a change than I will consider it but otherwise she has pleaded guilty," Sweeney told the court.
The three victims, John Chapman, 56, Kevin Lee, 48, and Lukasz Slaboszewski, 31, were found between March and April of this year, their bodies dumped in ditches in close proximity of one another in the County of Cambridge.
Dennehy also confessed to the attempted murder of John Rogers and Robin Bereza, the details of which were not reported.
Dennehy's co-defendant, Gary Richards, a former tenant of Lee's who was reportedly facing eviction, has repeatedly denied ever having assisted the confessed serial killer in her crimes or played a role in the transport of the body, the Telegraph reported.
Richards, who is known for being one of the tallest men in Britain at the height of 7'3" tall, went by the name "Gary Stretch."
Their trial against Richards will resume in January.
