Colorado authorities admit they are baffled by the disappearance of Joe Keller, a Tennessee teenager who went missing a month ago after going on a run while on a road trip with friends.
Keller, 19, was on a cross-country road trip with two friends,
Collin Gwaltney and Christian Fetzner, the Daily Mail reported. The trio was in Antonito, Colorado, last month when Keller and Gwaltney decided to go for a run, but they split up because each ran at different paces.
When Gwaltney returned to their specified meeting place, he waited for hours, the Mail said.
Keller never showed up.
Police have searched the area with drones, dogs, infrared equipment and from the air, but they’ve found no sign of Keller.
Keller is from Cleveland, Tennessee, and he and his friends were traveling from there to the West Coast, the newspaper said. He was supposed to start his sophomore year at a community college this fall.
The teenager is a swim team coach and Salvation Army volunteer. His parents, Neal and Zoe Keller, have offered a $50,000 reward for information about their son, the Mail said.
"We’d just like to know where he is, what has happened, whether he is
alive or dead,” Neal Keller told Fox News. Keller’s parents traveled to Colorado the day after their son went missing to search for him, and Neal Keller remains there a month later.
The Denver Westword reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was called into the search, but no evidence has yet to be found.
Friends and family, at a loss as to what might have happened to Keller, are taking tips and any information seriously. The Westword said family members even posted about a tip from a psychic who had a feeling Keller was in the Sedona area of Arizona.
Gwaltney told the newspaper that he’s concerned his friend was a victim of foul play. He speculates that Keller was kidnapped.
