John Cena has been sued for selling his $500,000 2017 Ford GT after receiving exclusive purchase rights, the International Business Times has reported.
According to the lawsuit filed at the U.S. District Court in Michigan, the WWE star was "selected from thousands of applicants for the opportunity to purchase the Ford GT," and even signed a deal requiring him to hold onto the car for at least two years.
Ford now claims that Cena sold the vehicle as soon as he received it, making a massive profit while causing damages and losses to the car company.
"Mr. Cena has unfairly made a large profit from the unauthorized resale flip of the vehicle, and Ford has suffered additional damages and losses, including, but not limited to, loss of brand value, ambassador activity, and customer goodwill due to the improper sale," the lawsuit said, according to TMZ.
The company is demanding that Cena hand over all profits from the sale, but the pro wrestler has claimed he sold the car and other property, to "pay bills," Forbes noted.
The pro wrestler raked in an annual WWE salary of $8 million last year and, according to Forbes, has a supporting role in "Daddy's Home 2", which has grossed over $74 million to date.
Cena has also gained lucrative endorsement deals with Hefty and Wonderful Pistachios and is carving out a role on the small screen as well.
Earlier this year he proposed to longtime girlfriend, Nikki Bella, with a huge diamond ring estimated to be worth around $85,000, Us Weekly said.
