John Goodman broke his silence about the Roseanne Barr controversy and tentatively spoke about the cancellation of the "Roseanne" reboot by assuring fans that "everything's fine" and that he was not in the running to "get an Emmy anyway," Entertainment Tonight reported.
The 65-year-old actor played Barr's on-screen husband Dan Conner. ABC canceled the reboot Tuesday after its star Barr made a racially charged crack on Twitter about Valerie Jarrett, a former senior adviser in the Obama White House.
Unnamed sources then revealed that ABC had suspended its planned Emmys For Your Consideration campaign for the revival, Deadline said.
In footage obtained by ET, Goodman addressed the situation, saying he would "rather say nothing than to cause more trouble," adding that "everything's fine."
The actor did not seem concerned about missing out on the Emmy's this year either, claiming that he has "been up there [11] times already, and if I didn't get one I'm not gonna get one."
Of his 11 Emmy nominations between 1988 and 2010, six were for his role on "Roseanne," but Goodman did not take home any of those awards, instead being acknowledged as Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role on "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" in 2007.
In the video footage obtained by ET, Goodman said he was not paying much attention to the Barr debacle, claiming that he was not reading or following the news.
His caution comes after Barr lashed out at her castmates on Twitter on Wednesday, unleashing her wrath on any colleague who commented on her social media remark.
