Things are getting messy in Johnny Depp's libel case against The Sun, and now Elon Musk has been dragged into the mix. The SpaceX billionaire has already denied allegations that he had a "three-way" affair with Depp's ex-wife, Amber Heard, and model Cara Delevingne, but Depp's lawyers are now claiming that Heard had extra-marital relations with Musk and actor James Franco, Daily Mail reported.
The statements were made in London's High Court on Tuesday, where a judge has started hearing Depp's claim against The Sun's publisher, News Group Newspapers, and its executive editor, Dan Wootton, over the 2018 story alleging he was violent and abusive to then-wife Amber Heard. Depp strongly denies the claim.
Both Depp and Heard are expected to give evidence at the three-week trial, where aspects of their tumultuous marriage that ended in 2017 are being discussed. During the defense's opening statements, text messages sent by Depp in 2016 were read out in court.
"She's begging for global humiliation," Depp reportedly wrote in his messages. "She's gonna get it. I'm gonna need your texts about San Francisco brother...I'm sorry to even ask... But she sucked Mollusk's [a reference to Elon Musk] crooked d*** and he gave her some sh***y lawyers."
Musk continues to deny the allegations.
"Cara and I are friends but we've never been intimate. She would confirm this," he said. "Also, I wish to confirm again that Amber and I only started going out about a month after her divorce filing. I don't think I was ever even in the vicinity of Amber during their marriage."
Depp, 57, and model-actress Heard, 34, met on the set of the 2011 comedy "The Rum Diary" and married in Los Angeles in February 2015. They divorced in 2017, and now bitterly accuse one another of abuse. Pre-trial hearings have already exposed radically differing accounts of Heard and Depp's tempestuous marriage, and more is yet to come.
