Actor Jon Cryer confessed to Conan O’Brien that his makeup team performs magic to make it appear as if his balding head has more than “four hairs.”
“This is an elaborate illusion. This is the work of several talented professionals making the most of like four hairs,” Cryer said, pointing to his head.

To peals of laughter, Cryer shared the process that transforms his skimpy pate.
“It’s a long involved process that starts with stuff that’s like shoe polish, basically, that they coat your scalp,” Cryer told Conan, requesting that the camera angle shift to the top of his head. “They basically just paint — they get a roller type thing — and they whoosh along the top. You have to decide whether you’re going to go full (John) Travolta and get like the full front in. Then they literally sprinkle powder in, like from a salt shaker.”
Conan zoomed right in on the critical question – what happens if Cryer’s out in the rain with that hair concoction?
“Oh, you’re out of luck,” Cryer said, regaling the audience with images of “rivulets” of color running down his face and thickening his eyebrows.
The discussion started after Conan shared a picture from early in Cryer’s career, when he played a role in “Pretty in Pink” and sported a full head of what Cryer called a “spectacular mane of unruly wonderfulness.”
But Cyrer's hair, or lack thereof, doesn't deter fans.
Cryer stars in “Two and a Half Men,” taking home more than enough to afford a sprayed-on do. He makes $13.6 million a year for the TV show.
