Jon Hamm is bringing an animated version of his popular "Mad Men" character to "SpongeBob Squarepants" during this season's lineup.
The actor, who plays Don Draper on the popular throwback series, will voice a character named "Don Grouper," with a lot of characteristics like his namesake,
Variety reported.
Grouper will feature a "sharp mind and devastating charm,” Variety quoted a Nickelodeon press release, and is, of course, an ad executive.
Hamm’s episode will see SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs seeking business advice from Grouper in Krabs’ endeavor to launch a line of frozen Krabby Patties.
The fish version of Draper apparently projects the same attitude,
People magazine reported, quoting Nickelodeon: "When Don's in the room, everyone laps up his words like overpriced organic honey."
Fans applauded the appearance of a "Mad Men" favorite on SpongeBob:
On
Facebook, one woman wrote at the news, "Jon Hamm will play an ad executive... on 'SpongeBob SquarePants' in a special episode next year. Hm, I'm guessing he won't be smoking like a chimney in Bikini Bottom."
