Jon Stewart's last night as host of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" will be August 6, he announced Monday.
According to CNN Money, Stewart, 52, wanted to sign off in July, but executives at Comedy Central wanted him to stay through the fall — as late as November.
Stewart's contract expires in September, so it looks like he was able to finagle a slightly early exit.
In a recent interview, Stewart said he was "not getting the same satisfaction" he once was from the show he's hosted for 16 years. He said that his hostly duties — particularly watching cable news in preparation for his own show — had become "incredibly depressing."
South African comedian Trevor Noah was announced as Jon Stewart's "Daily Show" successor in March.
