Jonah Hill performed an "SNL" hat trick over the weekend when the Oscar-nominated actor hosted the sketch comedy show for the third time with help from some of his famous friends, including Leonardo DiCaprio.
Hill, fresh off his second Academy Award nomination for "The Wolf of Wall Street," poked fun at his growing ego in the show's opening monologue but was derailed by planted audience members pestering him about what it was like working with DiCaprio, the film's star.

"What's Leo's hair like? Is it, like, beautiful?" one superfan asked.
"I don’t know, it's decent, I guess?" Hill said. "Not that memorable. Kinda like mine, maybe a little worse."
Finally, fed up with all the questions, Hill tells his version of how he came to star in the movie.
"Look, you wanna know the truth? The truth is, Leo wasn’t even supposed to be in the movie okay. Here's what happened. I call up Mary Scorsese. I say, 'Marty, it’s J.H. I'm ready to get in the ring together.' He says, 'Finally.' Then I say, 'Should we get DiCaprio on board?' and Marty says, 'Ah, I don't know if he can handle it. Sure, he's a movie star and puts teenage girls in the seats, but we need a real actor like you.'"
At that moment, the real DiCaprio walked onstage as the crowd gasped and cheered.
"Hey buddy," he said to Hill. "I have a question. What the hell are you doing man?"
DiCaprio brings Hill back down the earth and, as the monologue closes out, Hill asks if the two can "do the thing we always did every day [on set] that made me feel safe."
DiCaprio obliges and embraces Hill as they reenact the "Titanic" scene where Rose is flying on the bow of the ship.
The rest of the episode had some funny moments, including a skit called "Boss Dinner," where Hill plays a nervous underling looking to impress during a sit-down dinner at his employer's house. But after bungling the small talk at the table, Hill takes a trip to the restroom and loudly berates himself for all the dinner guests to hear.
Another favorite was a parody of the Spike Jonze movie "Her," which is about a man who falls in love with the female voice of his intelligent computer operating system. In the "SNL" bit titled "Me," Hill falls in love with a similar device voiced by himself. The sketch also featured a funny cameo from Hill's "Superbad" co-star Michael Cera.
Other scenes missed the mark, like Hill's recurring "6-year-old" sketch where he plays a wise-beyond-his-years kid named Adam Grossman. Another random sketch about a horse that kicked people in the face felt forced and out of place.
But overall,
Hill received high marks from TV critics who praised him for delivering a "solid performance."
