Josh Duggar, the oldest sibling in the family that stars on TLC's "19 Kids and Counting," may have been involved in a
sex scandal years ago, according to a new report by In Touch Weekly.
A new report obtained by the gossip magazine claims that Jim Bob Duggar, the family patriarch, turned in his oldest son to police in 2005 after he caught him leaving a minor's bedroom and "learned something inappropriate happened," a source told In Touch.
Josh Duggar, 27, was reportedly facing fourth-degree sexual assault but was never prosecuted because the state trooper who fielded the report was himself then convicted on child pornography charges.
In 2007, retired Arkansas state trooper Joseph Hutchens was sentenced to prison for possessing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child. In 2012, he was then sentenced to 56 years in prison for violating his parole when officers caught him possessing more
child pornography, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette reported.
Because of Hutchens' own sex scandal, he supposedly did not continue to pursue the case against Josh Duggar. By the time the state's Crimes Against Children division picked it up again, the three-year statue of limitations had passed, In Touch reported.
Neither Jim Bob Duggar nor his son Josh have spoken out about the scandal allegations.
The Arkansas family featured on the TLC hit show has 19 biological children whose names all start with "J," spanning in age from 27 to 5.
Josh Duggar has three children of his own with his wife Anna. The couple is expecting their fourth baby this summer.
Paying no attention to the swirling allegations, Duggar took to Twitter Wednesday to promote his family’s show.
"19 Kids and Counting" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on TLC.
