Director Judd Apatow has been vocal about the alleged rapes by Bill Cosby, but he escalated his stance over the weekend with a Twitter outburst slamming "cold" people who sided with the comedian.
Part of Apatow’s online discussion involved the failure of Canada’s Center in the Square and Budweiser Garden to cancel Cosby’s upcoming performances.
“Is Cosby only popular in Ontario Canada at this point?” the popular film director tweeted. “Do people still find him delightful after 30 accusers?”
But Apatow quickly got into it with supporters of Cosby, tweeting:
Cosby supporters, whom Apatow called “cold” in one Tweet, accused Apatow of judging someone who should be innocent until proven guilty. The director held no punches in his responses.
And to another person, Apatow wrote, “I wish he wasn't a rapist too. I am not sure why you feel the need to protect him. But your rage can't be making you happy.”
Many people, though, spoke out in support of Apatow’s opinions.
Some people who made it clear they weren’t defending Cosby did interact with Apatow to show their understanding of why the venues weren’t cancelling Cosby’s shows, pointing out that contracts could be difficult to break.
