Twitter erupted with praise for Judge Rosemarie Aquilina and her words to Larry Nassar as she sentenced him to 40 to 175 years in prison for sexually assaulting women as a Team USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University doctor.
Nassar has been accused of molesting 150 victims, and many of them made victim impact statements in recent days as Aquilina considered his sentence. The ex-doctor is already serving a 60-year sentence for a child pornography charge.
“I just signed your death warrant,” Aquilina told Nassar, who apologized again to his victims.
“As much as it was my honor and privilege to hear the sister survivors, it is my honor and privilege to sentence you. Because you, sir, you do not deserve to walk outside of a prison again.”
Twitter could not say enough about how Aquilina put Nassar in his place while empowering his victims to rise above the abuse.
