Julia Roberts says that not getting a facelift was a risky career move in looks-obsessed Hollywood where every wrinkle and bulge is analyzed and criticized.
The Oscar-winning actress made the comments as the industry still buzzes about Renee Zellweger's new look, which she has attributed to better living,
according to The Telegraph.
Roberts, 46, recently signed on to promote the beauty brand Lancome, noted The Telegraph.
"By Hollywood standards, I guess I've already taken a big risk in not having had a facelift, but I've told Lancome that I want to be an ageing model – so they have to keep me for at least five more years until I’m over 50," Roberts told the Daily Mail's
You magazine.
Zellweger, 45, told
People magazine last week that she is living a healthier lifestyle and credits that for her change in appearance. She said she is happier than ever and dismissed "silly" social media comments about her looks.
"I'm glad folks think I look different," Zellweger told the magazine in an interview last week. "It seems the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth which doesn't exist won't get off my porch until I answer the door."
"I took on a schedule that is not realistically sustainable and didn't allow for taking care of myself. Rather than stopping to recalibrate, I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices about how to conceal the exhaustion. I was aware of the chaos and finally chose different things," said Zellweger.
Similarly, Roberts told You magazine that she found her peace "studying yoga on a more conscious level."
"It's about non-grasping, non-hoarding, cleaning out your closet, dusting out your mind and letting go of the things that weigh you down mentally and emotionally," said Roberts. "There's a lightness to my life now – an airy quality of not taking things too seriously. That’s happiness."
